Earlier Versions of Windows • Only for versions of Windows before Vista. • Download the installation package and profiles from http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/vpn/dl-win.html • Create a new temporary folder, such as C:\VPNTemp\ and extract all the profiles and VPN installation files into it. • Now locate the setup file in this directory and proceed with the installation, like any other standard installation.
Earlier Versions of Windows • Once the VPN Client is installed and your computer has rebooted, start the client from Start -> Program Files -> Cisco Systems VPN Client -> VPN Client • Click connect to open a popup, where you can type in your username and password. Remember – you have to use your AD password, the one you use for your college email. • Once you click OK, the window will minimize and you’ll see a closed-lock icon in the taskbar. You are now connected to VPN.
Linux Users • Follow these simple steps to use the Cisco VPN Client : http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/vpn/dl-nix.html • There are other alternatives (though these aren’t guaranteed to work): • VPNC • OpenVPN
Other Operating Systems • For Windows Vista: http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/vpn/dl-winv.html • For Macs: • Follow these instructions for OS X: http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/vpn/dl-mac.html • Follow these instructions for pre-OS X systems: http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/vpn/netlock-install.html
