This study compares changes in tumor measurements and metabolic response criteria on PET scans, including SUVmax and CT Volume, aiding in cancer treatment assessment for more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
E N D
Comparison of Response Measures • Change in longest diameter = -19% • Change in sum of perpendicular diameters = -21% • Change in CT Volume = -37% • Change in PET SUVmax = -18%
Standardized Uptake Value SUV (time) = Radioactive Concentration x Weight Injected Activity • Under certain circumstances, 18FDG SUV correlates with metabolic rate of glucose and/or the number of viable tumor cells • Simplified semi-quantitative measure that can be routinely performed in clinical PET studies • Adjusts for differences in patient size and injected activity
EORTC PET metabolic response criteria • Complete response (CR): Complete resolution of all lesions • Partial Response (PR): Greater than or equal to 25% decrease in SUVmax. • Stable Disease (SD): Less than 25% change • Progressive Disease (PD): Greater than or equal to 25% increase in SUVmax
