NADD Certifications Recognized in Pennsylvania HCBS Waivers • National Association of Dual Diagnosis (NADD) • Offers competency based credentialling for professionals working with individuals that have a dual diagnosis • It’s estimated that 30-35% of all persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities have a psychiatric disorder.

NADD Certifications Recognized in Pennsylvania HCBS Waivers • Effective 1/1/18, at least one staff person must be certified or have a degree to to provide enhanced levels of service to participants who do not require a nurse. • Enhanced level of care: provides 1:1 or 2:1 (staff to participant) staffing for a participant.  Enhanced level of care is based on a participant’s behavioral or medical support needs.

NADD Certifications Recognized in Pennsylvania HCBS Waivers • NADD Competency Based Clinical Certification. • NADD Competency-Based Dual Diagnosis Certification. • NADD Competency-Based Direct-Support Professional Certification. • Registered Behavior Technician. • Certified Nursing Assistant. • Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work or Gerontology.

  24. Ohio Competency Add On to Wages • Effective July 2018, DSPs who complete specific NADSP accredited competency training get a $1.00 increase to their wage, the agency gets paid $1.67 • Good for homemaker or personal care DSPs – DSPs working in Ohio’s waiver programs (not for day programs, ICF DSPs) • In order to qualify, must have 2 years of experience. Full time, not necessarily as an employee, students are ½ there, does not have to be consecutive

  25. Ohio Compentecy Add On to Wages • 60 hours of competency training • Training has to be accredited by NADSP, includes a competency demonstration • Portfolio counts as a competency demonstration
