Article: “Research data management in Turkey: perceptions and practices” - (March 2017) Resultsconformwith international reviews The massive increase in researchdatabeingproducednowadayshashighlightedtheimportanceofresearchdatamanagement (RDM) toscience. Research data not onlyhavetobecosteffective but also reliable, discoverable, accessible, andreusable. In thisregard, thepurposeofthispaperistoinvestigatetheperceptionsandpracticesofTurkishresearchers on thesubjectof RDM. Design/methodology/approach: An online survey was distributedtotheacademicians in 25 universities in Turkey, and 532 responsesweregathered. Findings: ResultsindicatethatalthoughTurkishresearchersareawareofthebenefitsofdatamanagement, arewillingtosharetheirresearchdatawithcertaingroups, andhavedecentpreservationhabits, they express thatthey lack thetechnicalskillsandknowledgeneededfor RDM. In addition, noinstitutionalizedsupport (staff, training, software, andhardware) isprovidedtoresearchers.
