  2. Message from CEO/Management • Employee Campaigns see an increase when there is support from the management. If possible, have your CEO or another respected leader share their reasons for supporting United Way.

  3. 2008 Campaign Thank You Show the results from the previous year and the impact in the community resulting from your company’s support. Examples: • Increased participation by 25%: that means 1 in 4 people gave to United Way • Total employee pledges of $12,548!

  4. 2009 Campaign • Show United Way 2009 Campaign Video & • Invite a United Way representative or Agency Speaker to share 1st hand the impact – call the United Way office at 345-4551 to schedule. Speakers are encouraged to speak 5-10 minutes.OR • Share the Connecting Kids Initiative – see next 2 slides

  5. 2009 INITIATIVE: CONNECTING KIDS • United Way believes that all youth should have the opportunity to participate in enriching out-of-school programs. • Research proves that youth who are involved in activities have increased self-esteem compared to youth who are not involved in activities. • Through the Connecting Kids Initiative, United Way will expand the variety of opportunities available to youth in our community and provide an additional $25,000 in scholarships enabling more kids to participate.

  6. 2009 INITIATIVE: CONNECTING KIDS • Youth who are not involved for at least one hour per week in positive activities are 49% more likely to use drugs and 37% more likely to become teen parents. • Data shows that poverty is on the rise and participation in youth development programming is decreasing. • Approximately 40% of local youth do not participate in sports, clubs or organizational activities.
