  1. TO COUNTERACT THE CATARACT The word cataract originates from its Latin roots which mean floodgate or waterfall. So as the name suggests, the cataract of the eye is equivalent to an opaque floodgate which restricts the flow of light through the lens. Symptoms Mostly aging and often injury leads to the clouding of the lens which with time turns opaque. The cloudiness is due to the buildup of protein over the lens. Cataract often leads to blurred vision, discomfort with reading, seeing halos around lights, faded colors, trouble to see at night, and discomfort in bright light which can always be treated with the help of cataract eye surgery. To lift the Floodgate Since the eye is one of the most important organs of the human body, its treatment should be done at the best eye hospital in Mumbai for cataract surgery. The treatment extended in cataract surgery hospitals depend upon the type of cataract one is diagnosed with. Cataracts are primarily of three types: 1.Nuclear Sclerotic Cataract: The central part of the lens is called the Nucleus. With time, the nucleus yellows and hardens, which then further extends to the other layers of the lens. This is asymptomatic initially and takes several years to gradually affect vision. 2.Cortical Cataract: The outer layer of the lens is called the Cortex. It is caused when protein forms on the Cortex and grows towards the nucleus. People having diabetes are more likely to be diagnosed with this type of cataract. The most common treatment is the removal of the lens with the help of cataract eye surgery and replacing it with an artificial lens. 3.Posterior Subcapsular Cataract: This type of cataract affects the area back of the lens also called the posterior part. There is a small sac or membrane behind the lens that holds the lens capsule in place. Since the cataract is formed beneath the capsule, it is called Subcapsular. This condition develops much rapidly and becomes detectable within the span of a few months. Many cataract surgery hospitals are available all across the country that specializes in cataract eye surgery. The lens which is removed and replaced remains a part of you for the rest of your life hence the procedure must be done in the best eye hospital in Mumbai for cataract surgery. Once the cataract is removed normal vision can be restored with the help of contact lenses or eyeglasses.

  2. General recovery takes place over a period of 8 weeks during which there will be some initial discomfort. The eyes are to be handled very sensitively and even the best hospital in Mumbai for cataract surgery will suggest a full recovery of one eye in case of infection in both eyes.
