  3. Revelation 3:14-19 14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceanswrite, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

  4. Revelation 3:14-19 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

  5. Proverbs 24:30-34 30 I went by the field of the lazy man,      And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding; 31 And there it was, all overgrown with thorns;       Its surface was covered with nettles;       Its stone wall was broken down. 32 When I saw it, I considered it well;       I looked on it and received instruction: 33 A little sleep, a little slumber,       A little folding of the hands to rest; 34 So shall your poverty come like a prowler,       And your need like an armed man.

  6. We must not be complacent • In our knowledge of God’s word

  7. We must grow in knowledge. 2 Peter 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. cf. 2 Timothy 2:15, James 1:5

  8. Why? • Philippians 1:9-10 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, • 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

  9. Why? • Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. • 2 Corinthians 3:1-3 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you? 2 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.
