  1. 2012-2013 Slick Second Semester Plans for your libraries

  2. The libraries are always thinking of new ways to provide interest in books and reading as well as Information Literacy in general. Here’s what we have in mind to try during the second half of this year. Some things will work, some will not, but we will have tried something new!

  3. Anderson Library

  4. *Many a new book from the Box Tops that are collected like mad and 2 memorial funds this year; Chloris Stoll and Brie Carl’s uncle. *Anderson’s collection will receive the inventory treatment this spring. (really a brainchild of Mrs. Reifert’s)

  5. *A continuation of Literacy Push! a monthly visit by Bondurant Community Library staff and I into the classrooms of kindergarten and first graders promoting vocabulary, nonfiction and silliness.

  6. *Pairing fiction and nonfiction books together to promote both. *Some of my personal favorites will be taught including using maps and newspapers.

  7. *We will be celebrating National Library Week this year for the first time in a long time. • Something about books, fun and food. • You can’t beat it.

  8. Bundling Books Baby! All you do is let us know 1 week in advance what you are studying. We pull and bundle the books that would be helpful for you and your students. They are delivered directly to your door. Try out our new option to aid you in your curriculum! Another new offering at the elementary school…

  9. Thanks to PTO for the new sofa, couch, divan, davenport, settee, etc!

  10. Middle School Library of the projects. B-F Middle School

  11. *A display of the Little Rock Nine – enrichment of the homeroom curriculum about the nine African American students who aided in the civil rights movement. Life sized people will hang in the library with information about each. An attempt to make the situation and historical significance real to the students.

  12. * Our 2nd Annual March Madness – A vote for your favorite book series! We fill the brackets, starting with the elite 8narrowing the list until we get to the final battle. Free throw competitions aid in whittling down the list until only 2 series are left to choose between. (really a brainchild of Mrs. Braun)

  13. * An interdisciplinary project with the read aloud book, Seedfolks. Projects follow as well as skyping time with the American School in Warsaw, Poland who will also take part in some of the projects.

  14. *The 5th and 6th grade classes will have some Internet Safety instruction following their introduction to their own school email account. They will also have practice in becoming savvy about summarizing and asking/formulating good questions during their library time.

  15. *Writing Contest in conjunction with the Bondurant Community Library – “What is BEST about Bondurant” Sadly postponed until Fall 2013. However, a great way to start the year!

  16. B-F High School Library

  17. New to the library from the Party of Blue Jays

  18. *The computers will be renumbered so they look fresh and attractive. *The computers will have a small promotion for good reference options through the library webpages and Heartland added to each display.

  21. This really happened in the fall, but it was so fun I had to include it. Always a popular fall event. The Hawkeyes do win this game…

  22. *Music as a background in the library – we’re going to provide opportunities for all kinds of music to be featured throughout the day occasionally – after Spring Break?

  23. *HS Book Cart promo – a cart with a display of books will be wheeled into any classroom that requests it. The books will be organized by genre, reading level, interest or curricular needs. Students can check out books directly from the cart that they would like to read.

  24. *Book Hooks – book promos will be posted on bright colors in the larger library window and circulated often to provide interest and information.
