  2. When in Doubt, check it out! • Did you read your workbook? • Do you know how your work will be evaluated? • Did you ask your teacher for assistance? • Have you made an appointment with Mrs. Clemens?

  3. 75 points Product 75 points Paper 75 points Presentation 75 points Portfolio 15 points extra credit for mentors. Know how your work will be evaluated BEFORE you begin working! All rubrics used to evaluated your efforts are in the Senior Project handbook. Earnup to: 315 points on your project

  4. Approved Product ideas and Paper topics are a requirement for grading! • DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME DOING WORK THAT WON’T BE GRADED. • If you have extenuating circumstances that require changes to your proposal, schedule a meeting with your shop teacher and Mrs. Clemens

  5. Product – Service Project or Tangible demonstration • Product must be tangible or service oriented. • Mentors are optional and can earn you extra credit. • Take the time to carefully document your efforts (photos or video). • The Senior Project office has 3 digital cameras available for student sign out.

  6. Research Paper: mid-term 1st trimester to mid term 2nd trimester • NO historical overviews • NO Biographies. • NO “How to papers” • YES! Base paper on an element, idea or question you have about your product/topic. • YES! Share your opinions and conclusions based on your research!

  7. The library Media Center and your Research • Ms. McHugh and Ms. Kacergis are there to help support your efforts! • Not all information has equal value. • No Wikipedia etc. • The library has subscriptions to quality on line data bases! • Google Scholar and Kartoo are 2 excellent search engines. • http://www.kartoo.com • http://scholargoogle.com

  8. Presentation – Social Studies • The Presentation phase is supported and partially graded by your social studies teacher(s). • Students will have opportunities for “dress rehearsals” prior to the big day. • Dress to impress the day of your presentation. • Judges will be teachers, administrators and trade advisors.

  9. The Portfolio Phase runs through all three trimesters. • Protect your hard work – Have a back up system!! • Save your work to a flash-drive or to free on line storage such as Yahoo Briefcase. • A 2 or 3 inch 3 ring binder, with page protectors and tabbed sections is a requirement of Senior Project. • A neat professional appearance can be achieved with complete sentences, neatly written or typed responses and quality photos to document your product.
