Finalizing Your Manila Portfolio: Important Reminders and Assignments

This is a guide to prepare your Manila portfolio for submission. Ensure you bring the Manila folder and include the following items on top in this order: Career Research Essay, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Midterm Poetry Packet (or alternatives for period 2). Remember to complete your character chart, which is due after class. You’re reminded to have any missing English assignments signed off by Friday if absent. Don’t forget to work on your Communications portfolio essay. Let's read Chapter Six of "Lord of the Flies" together!

  1. ENGLISH IIMAY 8TH Grab your manila portfolio. Leave the green folder, but bring the manila folder to your desk with you. Put the following three things on top (in this order): Career Research Essay To Kill a Mockingbird Midterm Poetry Packet (period 2: instead of poetry packet, you can put in D.J.’s from N.I.A.S. or F451) Pass up your portfolio when done. 

  2. CHARACTER CHART Finish your character chart (except last row). It will be turned in on the stool after class. Page numbers to help: 7-18: Ralph and Piggy 19-21: Jack, Samn’Eric, Simon, Roger, Choir Boys, Littleuns 37: Ralph 38: Piggy 50: Simon 59: Littleuns 62: Roger 63-64: Jack, Samn’Eric, Roger 71 & 74: Simon 78-79: Ralph 82: Jack 84: Piggy

  3. REMINDERS • If you didn’t have one of the three English pieces today, you can get it signed off on Friday (if you’ll be absent Friday, bring it tomorrow after school). • Homework: work on body paragraph #3 and conclusion of Communications portfolio essay! • Meet in A230 tomorrow. • If you’d like to submit it on Friday, you may without having points taken off. However, if it’s not in on/before Friday, IT WILL NOT BE GRADED, REGARDLESS OF YOUR EXCUSE!

  4. STANDARDS Reading 3.7 Recognize and understand the significance of various literary devices, including figurative language, imagery, allegory, and symbolism, and explain their appeal. Reading 3.9 Explain how voice, persona, and the choice of a narrator affect characterization and the tone, plot, and credibility of a text.
