Purpose • Improve writing skills • Learn to write a basic essay • Focus on concepts and themes in the novel
Themes • Using one of the themes from the handout write a 3 page paper • Visit the website http://www.bellmore-merrick.k12.ny.us/mockingbird.html • Read the additional information about themes in the novel • Bonus points for essay written from the website topics
Essay Questions • Choose one of the seven essay questions • Write a three page essay • Three bonus questions • Bonus essays will receive ten extra points
Inspiration Essay Question • Answering the Inspiration question will require a character map • Must be four pages in length including character map • Paper should include short sketches of the characters • Student will receive ten bonus points on essay
Final Points on Essay • Essay must be typed using Microsoft Word • Bibliography must be included • Print resources and Internet sites must be used
