  2. Port Stephens a quick snapshot • Located only 2 and half hours from NSW capital Sydney Port Stephens proves to be a tourist hotspot that is only a relatively short drive away. One of the many main attractions that Port Stephens has to offer are it’s resident population of aquatic wild life and 140 strong Bottlenose Dolphin population. With cruises and a variety of restaurants, and activities you’ll never get bored in this holiday paradise!

History The very first inhabitants of what we now call Port Stephens were the Worimi tribes, at the time of British settlement there were 400 aboriginals living in the Port Stephens area but by 1900 there were only a few left. Port Stephens was first discovered by Captain Cook in 1877 where he noted in his log as "an opening forming a bay".

  4. Weather and Climate During summer Port Stephens is bathed in sunlight and heat from the warm glowing Summer sun, during this time around Christmas is when the Tourist rush hits, but that all changes in winter! During winter bitter cold winds grip the area, intense showers rain down on the various towns and settlements located all over Port Stephens.
