Welcome to SVHS Media Center Media Assistants
Our Goals for this class: You will . . . • Explore sources & formats for reading, listening, and viewing purposes. • Identify & use criteria for excellence to evaluate information and formats. • Relate ideas & information to life experiences • Explore & use research process to meet information needs • Communicate reading, listening, & viewing experiences
Required Activities • Follow a rotation schedule • Achieve a satisfactory comprehension level for operating the circulation plus system • Be familiar with the given sections • Maintain assigned fiction & nonfiction areas • Be familiar with various reference materials • Complete written exercises • Read one book per grading period and take a test on book • Exhibit a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Daily Tasks • Reshelf and check materials • Maintain circulation desk • Assist in computer lab • Create and maintain media materials • Assist patrons • Work on library assignments • Other duties as assigned
Materials You Need Each Day Pencil & Pen Loose leaf paper Flash drive (must have your own)
Grading Procedures 40 % = Daily Participation/ Written Assignments 60 % = Tests
