  3. Traffic Light Eating ~ Yellow Light Foods • Yellow means “slow down” • Okay to eat every day, but not too much • Have more calories than Green Light Foods • Usually have more fat or sugar than Green Light Foods • Includes things like pasta, rice, bread, nuts, yogurt, low fat cheese, & chicken

Traffic Light Eating ~ Yellow Light Foods • A necessary part of a healthy diet • Provide different vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients than Green Light Foods • Preparation of Yellow Light Foods can cause them to become Red Light Foods (for example, fried chicken) • Too much of a good thing is still too much!

Traffic Light Eating ~ Red Light Foods • Red means “stop and think” • Make a different choice or eat a smaller portion • Lower in nutrients & higher in calories • Includes foods with artificial sweeteners, hydrogenated oils or trans-fat • High in fat and/or sugar • Includes foods like butter, cookies, donuts, white bread, soda, ham and other fatty meats
