ATLAS UPGRADE Module Mounting Update
Progress • Granite table layout and manufacturing drawings ready for review • Camera and optics mounting system - 60% complete. • Stave positioning hardware – 70% complete • Vacuum jig and silicone micro alignment system • 30% complete
Near milestones • Complete layout of all table mounted sub assemblies • Spend several days at RAL working with Martin Gibson to better understand and model / document the vacuum system and under table module storage arrangement • Produce manufacturing drawings for prototype vacuum jig and module aligner • Arrange manufacture icw Martin. • Testing and design modifications if required
Camera mounting • Camera now mounted to the side of the boom, this will allow full coverage of 1.6m stave • Aerotech rotary stage gives 180 degree swing • Quick FEA will determine whether counterbalance is required
Twin tables • Provision made for addition of 2nd granite table • Rotary stage (powered?) swings camera and optics about Y axis linear stage
To do • Get details of full size stave mounting frame. How much wider will the stave. I only have a model of the stavelet • How much of the system would you like to be modelled
