When fishing in saltwater, using live baits with circle hooks is essential for self-setting and preventing gut hooks. To catch bait, a cast net with the appropriate mesh size is effective—1-inch for mullet and smaller mesh for greenbacks. Some baits can be caught with hook and line, like ladyfish and pinfish, but others may require a local bait shop visit or the use of lures. Finding the right lure involves trial and error, as different species prefer different baits. Always use the right equipment size for the target fish to improve your chances of success.

BAITS When using live baits in saltwater I always use circle hooks, they are self setting and prevents the fish from being gut hooked.
How to get bait • One of the easiest ways to bait is in a cast net. All cast nets have a certain sized mesh, if you are going to catch mullet you will use a net with 1in mesh, if you are going to catch green backs ( a smaller bait) you would use a small sized mesh. • Some of the bait can be caught on hook and line, like lady fish, and pinfish. • Some of the baits you just saw are so hard to get a large quantity of that you might have to visit a local bait shop or even use artificial baits like lures.
Lures and other artificials The best way to find a good lure is by actually fishing and constantly changing lure. If you look it up, you wont have very good luck because in different areas fish like different lures and other artificials.
AND ALWAYS USE THE RIGHT SIZED EQUIPMENT FOR THE FISH YOU ARE AFTER, IF NOT I CAN ALMOST GUARENTEE A FAIL IN SUCCESSFULLY BRINGING THE FISH ON BOARD.
