  1. Population of India

  2. Population distribution is how and why population is spread across the landscape of India. Population distribution

  3. - India's population is mainly located around the coast and the Ganges river. This is because of the Deccan Plateau makes central India hard to build on. Farming beside the Ganges river. Delhi, Kolkata and Ahmandabad are all examples of places with a high population. These places have high populations because they are all near coast lines which means they have access to a lot of resources and can ship things easier.

  4. Places with hot and dry climates like the Thar Desert are not lived in because of the lack of resources available and the intense climate would kill people. It would also be very hard to grow crops because of the lack of water and the intense heat.

  5. Population diversity Population diversity is the composition of the population including ethnicity, age and sex.

  6. This graph and table show that India has a lot of children in their population. This is because the majority of the population in rural areas is poor and illiterate , and have no means of entertainment than having sex . In about 60 years, India will have a high population of old people.

  7. Why does India have a lot of children in their population? • : The importance of children in the Hindu religion • : Providing a workforce for farming families • : Negative perception of contraception • : To help their parents when they are too old to care for themselves

  8. Religion in India This table shows that India's main population is Hinduism. Hinduism plays a big part in the large population of children because they believe in having lots of children to increase the number of Hindus.

  9. Population change • Change in India’s population totals, age-sex structure & natural increase.

  10. India’s Total Population Growth Year Total Population 1950 357,000,000 1960 443,000,000 1970 553,000,000 1980 684,000,000 1990 838,141,000 2000 1,004,000,000 2010 1,190,000,000 2020 1,365,000,000 2030 1,550,000,000 2040 1,690,000,000 2050 1,810,000,000 This table shows the rapid growth that has occurred over the past 60 years in population and what it is predicted to be in the next 40. India's current population is 1,270,272,105 (1.27 billion). This is an increase of over 7 million people in only 2 years. If the population keeps rising at this speed, India will not have enough room to accommodate all of the people which will mean there would be a high percentage of people who are homeless and not enough resources to keep people alive.

  11. Summary : If the population keeps rising India will not have enough resources for everyone. : If there isn’t enough resources the percentage of homeless people would increase dramatically. : The population is steadily rising at 1.7% per year.

  12. Migration in India Migration and Mobility of the Indian People including External and Internal Migration

  13. education Natural disasters Job opportunities Why do people move? money lifestyle family

  14. This table shows us some of the many reasons why people migrate. - Migration into a country is called immigration. - Migration out of a country is called emigration. - Push factors are things that push you out of a country. - Pull factors are things that pull into another country.

  15. - Internal migration is moving to a different city in your country. - External migration is moving to a different country all together. This table shows the large amount of people who migrate in India. People move to different cities because of money, family, disasters, resources available and more.

  16. Population sustainability • capacity of the environment to support a population in the longer term

  17. Population growth This graph is showing the population growth between decades. If the population continues to grow this fast, there will not be enough resources for everyone to survive.

  18. Can India support its growing population? : One of the biggest challenges will be the supply of fresh water because of the amount of water needed for agriculture. : Food will also be a challenge because of the amount of people who need to eat and the amount of food available. : The amount of homeless people will increase because there will not be enough houses for everyone.
