  4. Alumni of TRF • Their experiences foster international understanding through person-to-person contact, friendship, service and cross-cultural exchange. • They serve as goodwill ambassadors not just when they are abroad, but also when they return home as alumni.

Additionally … • 58% of clubs do not recruit alumni for membership. • 22% of clubs recruit and actually have alumni as members. • 84% of current program participants are interested in joining a Rotary club. • 66% of program alumni are interested in joining a Rotary club.

  18. Top 5 reasons alumni identified for not being interested in joining Rotary • Too many other commitments / not enough time for Rotary • Cannot make attendance at weekly meetings • Membership is too expensive • Age difference between self and current members • Clubs are all (or mostly) men

Top 5 reasons alumni identified for wanting to join Rotary • Community service. • Meet a variety of people. • Make a difference / create a better world. • Help others have the same experience. • Rotary is a good organization to be involved in. Many alumni are interested in joining, but simply are not asked to join!

Ideas for Recruiting & Retaining Rotary Foundation Alumni • Induct several alumni into your club at once, instead of recruiting them one at a time. • Conduct several projects that are likely to appeal to younger members. • Consider lowering the total cost of membership in your club. • Make sure meetings are efficient and productive. • Be open to new ideas of younger members.
