  3. Today we will learn about one of the times when vowels say their name. Magic e e When a syllable ends with an e the vowel says his own name.

  10. This is the end of the phonics lesson for today. You will practice what we learned with the Magic e worksheet.

  11. Non-fiction Books that are real and full of facts are called non-fiction. These books can contain pictures that also help tell you about the subject. Non-fiction books are written to inform.

  12. This book about sea horse is nonfiction. It contains facts about and pictures of sea horses. This book is also nonfiction. It tells all about weather.

  13. All of these books are also nonfiction. They are all about real people, places, and things.

  14. Reference books like an atlas, encyclopedia, thesaurus, or dictionary are also nonfiction books.

  15. Nonfiction books can have: • Table of contents (a list of the parts of the book- found in the front of the book) • Index (alphabetical list of names, subjects, etc., with page numbers- found at the end of the book)

  16. pictures, charts, maps (to help the reader understand) • Headings, bolded words,and captions (different ways to write words to help the reader understand) • Glossary (a small dictionary with words from the book- found at the end of the book)

  17. We will now read a nonfiction passage called Bald Eagle and then we will answer questions about what we read. Bald Eagle

  18. Assignment: 1.Complete both Magic e worksheets 2. Read and answer comprehension questions for Pluto 3.Read and answer comprehension questions for Mavelous Mammal 4. Write any words with magic e you read(in Pluto and Mavelous Mammal ) in your journal Good-bye
