ICT’s – Are they enough to combat climate change? • ICT own use • ICTs currently use approximately 2% of global energy and their demand for and use of energy is increasing • ICT Enablement • £500 billion savings from use of ICT’s across all sectors by 2020 (GeSI Smart 2020) • ICTs can off set own energy use by up to 5 times • What does this mean for the use of ICTs?
