  2. Who We Are: • GLITC is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization, founded in 1965 and is a consortium of tribes in Wisconsin and Upper-Michigan. • Primarily Grant-Based Funding with over 80 separate federal, state, and other sources. • Office in Lac du Flambeau, with over 100 employees state-wide.

  5. Our Vision The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. (GLITC) will support member tribes in expanding self-determination efforts by providing services and assistance. GLITC will use a broad range of knowledge and experience to advocate for individuals. Throughout these activities, GLITC will maintain a deep respect for tribal sovereignty and reservation community values.

  6. Our Mission Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. will support member tribes in expanding sovereignty and self-determination.

Our Values GLITC is guided by the following set of principles that help determine how to meet responsibilities to member tribes. • Respect for all individuals – We value cultural and individual differences. Our programs afford access and opportunity for all American Indians residing in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. In addition to difference involving gender, ethnicity, age, disability and lifestyle reference, diversifying also means variety in thoughts and expressions. We seek to increase the understanding among diverse cultures, because we believe that embracing differences expands understanding. • Respect for tribal autonomy – We value a tribe’s right to follow a path that is good for its people.

Our Values • Dedication to assistance – We respond quickly and fairly to those who request support in an effort to build long term relationships. • Highest standards of integrity – We openly communicate our objectives and results. • Innovation – We encourage and support creative approaches that are specifically designed to reach and serve Native communities. • Unity and teamwork - We believe that collaboration strengthens tribal effectiveness.

Benefits • Membership in the Native American Tourism Association • Participation in the Native Wisconsin magazine and video for Native American communities • Small business start-up, technical assistance services, & entrepreneurial training • Membership in the Wisconsin Indian economic development district • Participation in NATOW educational package • Liaison to State of Wisconsin’s information technology, telecommunications, and procurement resources
