Our New Reality Adopted in January 2011; required instruction in k-12 science, content reading and writing grades 6-12 READ informational text; write using evidence from text, draw conclusions from multiple sources LITERACY in the CONTEN T AREA NYS will decide whether or not to adopt the NGSS after has been finished NYS is highly invested in the development of NGSS Developed by National Research Council to provide a guide for the development of Next Generation Science Standards Released for public comment in the summer of 2010 FINAL EDITION released in Summer of 2011 Standards are being developed, based on the Framework for Science Education by Achieve NGSS available for public comment in Jan/Feb of 2012; STANYS will notify members when available NYS teachers and STANYS are participating in “confidential reviews” of the NGSS
