Objectives: Learn the use of the negative form and the interrogative. To form the negative sentence- you need ‘Ne…pas’ which forms a sandwich round the main verb and means ‘not’. Elle ne regarde pas la télé. She is not watching TV. Ne becomes n’ before a vowel or mute ‘h’.

  1. Objectives:Learn the use of the negative form and the interrogative.

  2. To form the negative sentence- you need ‘Ne…pas’ which forms a sandwich round the main verb and means ‘not’. Elle ne regarde pas la télé. She is not watching TV.

  3. Ne becomes n’ before a vowel or mute ‘h’. Je n’ai pas d’animal- I don’t have a pet.

  4. After ‘pas’, du, de la, un, une and des become ‘de’. Je n’ai pas de frères- I haven’t got any brothers. Il n’y a pas de piscine- There isn’t a swimming pool.

  8. How to form a question in the present tense You use the ‘Tu’ or ‘Vous’ form. You can ask a question: By changing your voice Tu as un crayon? By changing the order As-tu un crayon? By adding ‘est-ce que in front of the sentence Est-ce que tu as un crayon?

  9. When you are asking about someone else, you have to add:–t to make it easier to pronounce. e.g. A-t-il/elle un crayon?
