The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has funded various workforce development programs that should be summarized and their outcomes publicized to enhance visibility and effectiveness. Key competencies identified through these programs must also be disseminated widely. As healthcare evolves, there’s a growing need for both soft and hard skills related to team-based care and patient engagement, necessitating the development of new training programs. It’s essential to study the impact of health information technology (HIT) on workforce metrics, as well as to address gaps in the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) related to HIT.
