Caution with Salbutamol Use in Cardiovascular Disease Patients

DESCRIPTION

Salbutamol should be used cautiously in patients with cardiovascular diseases, with individualized dosing to monitor therapeutic responses and minimize side effects. Asthma presents a compelling contraindication for using beta-blockers for antihypertensive therapy. Metoprolol may exacerbate heart failure symptoms and diminish salbutamol's effects. An alternative is Nebivolol, a third-generation beta-1 selective blocker approved for hypertension treatment. Nebivolol offers similar efficacy to other antihypertensives but with improved tolerability.

Salbutamolshould be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease.  If used, dosing should be individualized and the therapeutic response monitored to limit side effects. Asthma is a compelling contraindication to the use of beta-blockers as antihypertensives. Metoprolol may worsen the symptoms of heart failureandreduce the effects of salbutamol. An alternative drug that can be used is Nebivolol. It is a third-generation beta-1 selective blocker that is approved for treatment of hypertension. Nebivolol shows similar efficacy in treating hypertension, and with better tolerability. recommendations
