  1. Kodak Min-R EV Film System AN EXCITING NEW SCREEN FILM SYSTEM FOR MAMMOGRAPHY

  2. Kodak Min-R EV Film System One new film - Duplitized film used with a single screen New asymmetric emulsion design optimizes image quality from top to bottom of the sensitometric curve

  3. Kodak Min-R EV Film System • Two system speeds (150/190) are available by choice of new screens: • EV 150 Screen • EV 190 Screen Available in 18 X 24 and 24 X 30 in Min-R2 Cassettes only

  5. Kodak Min-R EV Film System • Novel emulsion filmgrains featuring contrast enhancing technology to achieve high contrast with sharp toe. • High contrast makes breast anatomy including abnormalities more visible • Sharp toe enables new optimization of imaging chain • Sharp toe also provides greater “sparkle” • Unique layer structure provides both high contrast and wider exposure latitude especially at higher optical densities. • Coating structure provides more efficient drying.

  6. Kodak Min-R EV Film System • Lower dye stain • Improved film drying • Lower granularity • reduces film noise • improves visualization of faint, small objects • Similar image tone to Min-R-2000 • Less susceptible to starry night minus densityartifacts

  7. 6.5 6.0 Higher contrast due to monodisperse cubic grains 5.5 High Dmax and Shoulder contrast due to high opacity grains and backside emulsion 5.0 4.5 Better visualization of breast parenchyma 4.0 Results in Greater overexposure latitude due to visually adaptive contrast 3.5 Density/Gamma 3.0 2.5 2.0 Sharp toe due to novel emulsion technology 1.5 1.0 Results in whiter whites “sparkle” making microcalcifications more visible 0.5 0.0 0.0 0.5 1.0 1.5 2.0 2.5 LogE MIN-R 2000/2000 Screen MIN-R EV / EV 150 Screen Kodak Min-R EV vs Min-R 2000

  10. More Lesion Detectability Less Light Dark Film Density Kodak Min-R EV Film System Visually Adaptive Contrast The human visual system loses its ability to distinguish differences in density as an image gets darker. Lesion Detection vs Density

  11. Visually Adaptive Contrast More Higher Film Contrast Lesion Detectability Net result of VAC correction Less Lower Light Film Density Dark Kodak Min-R EV Film System In order to compensate for this characteristic of the human visual system, we added contrast to the film as the density increases.

  12. Kodak EV Screens • Faster (i.e. brighter) than corresponding Min-R 2000 and 2190 screens • Improved phosphor and screencoating structures enable better MTF than the corresponding Min-R 2000 system screens

  15. Kodak Min-R EV System • Not KODAKKWIK/RA nor FUJICEPROS-P cycle processable. • Better drying characteristics may increase surface drying artifacts or uneven densities if dryer temperatures are too high. • Film isnot a drop in with existing mammographyscreens. Not less but equal to Min-R 2000 for dust propensity

  16. Kodak Min-R EV System • Must be properly set up! • Mammographic X-ray equipment must be calibrated • Warmer image tone (browner) will resultas optical density increases • Requires proper viewing conditions • With the addition of the MIN-R EV system KODAK has a mammography film to meet every customer’s needs!

  17. Kodak Min-R EV System • May be used with • non-hardened developer (KODAK X-OMAT LE+) • Must be used with • hardened fixer (KODAK RP X-OMAT LO) • May be used in RAPID CYCLE • with high quality hardened developers (EX II/RP) • hardening fixers (LO)
