Gases

Explore the essential gases that compose Earth's atmosphere, including nitrogen, which makes up 78.1% of our air, and oxygen, produced by trees and vital for our breathing. Learn how carbon dioxide, which we exhale, supports plant life. This overview also touches on the dangers of poisonous gases from volcanic eruptions and historical uses of gas in warfare. Discover interesting applications, like helium in balloons and carbon dioxide in fire extinguishers. Understand the significance and impact of these gases in our daily lives.

  3. Gas has been used as a weapon in war. Some gases that come out of volcanoes are poisonous. What can you find out about gases? Carbon dioxide comes in red extinguishers used to kill fires. Helium is lighter than air and can be used to fill a balloon.
