Memory Verse • The Roman Road: The Plan of Salvation • “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 6:23 • What does this verse tell us? • We’re born employed by sin and our paycheck is death • God offers us a a free gift – eternal life • We can’t get to this free gift except by Jesus Christ, who bridges the gap between us and God • For the whole context, read Romans 6:15-23.

  3. Recapping Moses’ Story • What was the Israelites’ situation in Egypt around the time Moses was born? (Exodus 1) • What does the name “Moses” mean? How does his name have a double meaning? (Exodus 2:10) • Reread Exodus 2:23-25. List and discuss the meaning of the action verbs in verses 24-25.

  4. Recapping Moses’ Story • What is the name God revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:14? • List Moses’ excuses from Exodus 3-4. • List the signs God gave Moses in Exodus 4. • Discuss Exodus 4:24-26, which could be a confusing passage.

  5. Recapping Moses’ Story • Why did God harden Pharaoh’s heart? (Exodus 7:1-13) • List and discuss the plagues in order. (Exodus 7:14 – 12:32) • Why do you think God sent the plagues on the Egyptians when he could have freed the Israelites in so many other ways?

  6. Recapping Moses’ Story • How were the Israelites to remember what God had done during the tenth plague? Why? (Exodus 12:1-28, 13:1-16) • Describe the crossing of the Red Sea. Why did God choose this series of events? (Exodus 14:1-31, specifically verses 4, 25, and 31) • Read Exodus 15:1-21 aloud together and discuss.

  7. The Story Finds its Place in Me • Which part(s) of Moses’ story can you identify with?

  8. Wrap Up • How can we use Moses’ story to better know, love, obey, serve, and worship God?
