  2. What is Adobe Flash? • Is an industry standard program for creating interactive features for websites based on animation. • It can create; interactive websites, rich media advertisements, instructional media, engaging presentations, games, and more. • The output from Flash is known as a Flash Movie and it uses “ActionScript” script to create complex properties. • Flash can manipulate vector and raster graphics, and supports bidirectional streaming of audio and video.

  3. Actionscript • ActionScript is a programming language unique to Adobe Flash. • It is the language used to write the interactive features Flash can create. • For example, you might wish to animate a bouncing ball; Actionscript can be used to describe the motion of the ball mathematically to be consistent with the effects of gravity.

  4. Features • Motion Editor • Tune motions, transformations, color effects, and more with the intuitive Motion Editor panel. Adjust simple Bezier curves to control changes between keyframes. • Prebuilt animations • Prebuilt animations can be applied to any object. Flash has dozens of presets or you can create and save your own. • Flash creates chain-like animations • Create chain-like animations using core tools like the Bones tool, quickly draw links between symbols and apply inverse kinematics without code. Then manipulate the combined actions of your animations with ease using the Motion Editor panel. • Achieve 3D motion • Animate 2D objects through 3D space with new easy-to-use 3D transformation and rotation tools — no handwritten scripting required. Apply local or global transformation to any object. • Can turn symbols into design tools • Apply symbols in a variety of ways: Quickly create kaleidoscope-like effects and apply fills using the Deco tool, or randomly spray symbols across any defined area using the Spray Brush.

  5. Flash Player • Once Flash Movies have been created, devices are able to create or display Flash content, using the Adobe Flash Player, which is available free for most common web browsers, some mobile phones and for other electronic devices (using Flash Lite)

  6. File Formats – Movies and Games • Flash files are saved in the SWF format (ShockWaveFlash movies or small web format as they are compressed) • “Flash movies" or "Flash games", usually have a .swf file extension and may be an object of a web page, strictly "played" in a standalone Flash Player, or incorporated into a “Projector”, a self-executing Flash movie (with the .exe extension in Microsoft Windows). • Flash movies differ from Flash Video in that they are not editable.

  7. File Formats – Flash Video • Flash Video files have a .flv file extension and are the native uncompressed format of Flash • These are run from within .swf files or played through a flv-aware player, such as VLC, or QuickTime and Windows Media Player with external codec added • They are not usually compressed and are therefore larger than swf format files
