  2. 2012-2013 Programs • Homework Club- served 48 students • Pre-College Access- served 80 students • College Access- served 143 students • College Retention- served 439 students

  3. FGCB participants who have entered college: 1,262 FGCB participants who will enter college in the fall: 137

  4. Today FGCB recognizes another 30 students receiving an Associate’s or a Bachelor’s degree and another 2 students receiving a Master’s degree

  5. FGCB has recognized 425 college graduates over the past 23 years

  6. So where are they now?????

  7. KesenaEroraha • Graduated in 2009 • from UMCP with a • degree in • Kinesiology • Currently: Pursuing • a Doctorate in • Physical Therapy at • Hampton University

  8. Cindy Cruz (Hernandez) • Graduated in 2010 from UMCP with a degree in Family Practice and Spanish and in 2012 from University of Maryland School of Social Work with a Master’s degree • Currently: Working for University of Maryland School of Social Work as an ABC Parenting Coach & Hearts and Homes of Youth as a part-time bilingual Social Worker

  9. Janelle Bettis • Graduated in 2009 from UMBC with a degree in Psychology and in 2012 from Argosy University with a Master’s degree in Community Counseling • Currently: Pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Counselor Education and Supervision and working for Key-Point Health Services as a Licensed Counselor

  10. Anita Johnson • Graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology • Currently: Working as a Research Fellow for the 2014 DC Mayoral Campaign and will be entering into the Public Administration Master’s program at UDC in the fall

  11. Bridget Akintunde • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Health Admin. from UMBC and Master’s degree in Health Admin. from UMUC • Currently: Working as a Market Research Analyst at Medstar Health

  12. MoniAkintunde • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from George Mason University • Currently: Working as a Critical Care Nurse at Howard County Hospital and attending Bowie State University to receive a Nurse Practitioner certification

  13. Florence Akadje • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Salisbury University • Currently: Working for Revere Bank as a Finance Assistant

  14. Sabrina Dobbs • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from UMCP and a MBA from Cornell University • Currently: Working for Hewlett-Packard

  15. Dontra Scott • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from UMCP and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Howard University • Currently: A resident in the Advanced Education Program in Endodontics at NYU and will receive a certificate in Endodontics in August 2014

  16. Alonzo Washington • Received a Bachelor’s degree from UMCP in Criminal Justice • Currently: Serving as a Maryland State Delegate and working as the Chief of Staff & Legislative Aide for PG County Councilmember Will Campos

  17. Tiwana Smith • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Criminology from UMES • Currently: Working for the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services

  18. Gavin Brown • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry from Valley Forge Christian College in 2004 • Currently: Working as a Youth Pastor at Trinity Church

  19. Loretta Thompson • Graduated from the University of the Arts with a Bachelorof Fine Arts Degree and George Mason University with a Master’s degree in Arts Management • Currently: Working as the Senior Director of Operations for Sitar Arts Center

  20. Stefanie Lomax • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from NC A&T University and Master’s degree in Human Resources from UMUC • Currently: Working as the Director of Human Resources at Rolyn Companies and as a Professor at UMUC

  21. Raemond Parrott • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English from Williams College and received a Juris Doctorate degree from Duke Law School • Currently: Working as an Regulatory Compliance Attorney in Denver, Colorado

  22. Fershalla Laing-Hodgeman • Received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University • Currently: A Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor at Fortis College

  23. Yolanda Lenzy • Received a Bachelor’s degree from American University, a Master’s degree in Public Health from Harvard University, a Medical degree from UMCP, and completed Dermatology Residency in Boston • Currently: Working as a Dermatologist at RiverBend Medical Group
