  2. Parent Meeting Objectives • Understand the legal aspects of the “Targeted Assistance Model” of Title I • Understand the parental rights • Be involved in the planning, implementation, and improvement of the Building Plan and Parent/Teacher Compact

  3. What is Title I? • The intent of Title I is to provide supplemental instruction to help children have the opportunity to obtain high-quality education and to reach proficiency on the state’s challenging standards.

  4. Targeted Assistance ModelNCLB Section 1115 • Asotin is considered a “Targeted Assistance School” • Students are tested, using objective and multiple data sources • Serves only designated students based on rank order list • Rank order list includes multiple assessments, teacher input, and parent input

  5. Who will work with your child? • Title I coordinator • Highly Qualified Teacher • Para-professional (teacher aide) • Parents

  6. Professional DutiesNCLB Section 1119 • Teacher provides assessment, lesson plans, and modify instruction based on evaluation • Paraprofessionals may instruct in small groups or tutor one-to-one if supervised by highly-qualified teacher in close proximity
