  5. Introduction • I have chosen for my passion to write about swimming, because next to relaxing, it is the most enjoyable thing I do. I have been swimming for 4 years in river Nile and swim pools. My ambition in swimming is to be like Michal Phelps and maybe belong to the Olympic swim team.

  6. What is swimming? • Swimming is an activity of propelling oneself through water using the limbs. • swimming can be a fun leisure activity and is a really good low impact way of staying in shape . • could potentially save your life and others.

History of swimming • On of the earliest representation of swimming in an in an ancient Egyptian wall relief. • Swimming originated back in the stone age because the cave men/women used it to swim across rivers and lakes. Frederick Cavill traveled to the south seas and watched Indians doing a crawl (freestyle) and a flutter kick in the water. He went back to Australia and taught the Australian crawl.

  8. Competitive Swimming: • A swimming stroke: is a method of moving the arms and legs to push against the water and propel the swimmer forward. • Type of strokes, and how to do it : • backstroke. • Breaststroke. • Butterfly. • freestyle.
