  2. What is tonsillitis and its causes? • The back of your throat has tonsils, which are masses of tissue that act like filters and trap germs. • Tonsils produce antibodies to fight infection but sometimes the tonsils themselves become inflamed which is known as tonsillitis. • Bacterial and viral infections cause tonsillitis. • A common cause is called strep bacteria. • Tonsillitis can also be cause by influenza virus, herpes simplex virus, enter viruses, etc. etc.

  3. Symptoms Are… • Ear pain • Difficulty swallowing/ breathing • Swollen glands • Fever/ chills • Bad breath • SYMTOMS IN CHILDREN: • Nausea • Vomiting • Abdominal pain • Inflammation and swelling of tonsils, in some cases the welling can block airways. • Throat pain/ tenderness • Redness • White/yellow spotting on the throat • Painful blisters/ulcers on throat • Rough voice/loss of voice • Headache • Loss of appetite

  4. Treatments for tonsillitis • If tonsillitis is persistent or if swelling causes upper airway blockage and difficulty eating, a tonsillectomy may be necessary. • Tonsillectomy is usually where the enlarged tonsils are cut, burned, or evaporated away. • Treatment depends on cause • Doctors may do a strep test or swab test to detect bacteria infection. • Antibiotics may be given. • If caused by a virus antibiotics wont work and your body would just have to fight off the infection on its own.

  5. Appendicitis and its causes • Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix. • The appendix is a 3.5 inch long tube extending from the large intestine. • Function of the appendix is unknown. • Appendicitis occurs when the appendix is blocked, usually by poop or cancer. • The blockage causes the appendix to swell holding bacteria inside which is poison to our body.

  6. Symptoms & Treatment • Appendicitis requires emergency surgery for removal. • If untreated the appendix will burst spilling infectious material into the abdominal cavity. • That can lead to a serious inflammation of the abdominal cavities lining which can be deadly. • Loss of appetite • Abdominal pain • Nausea or vomiting • Abdominal swelling • Fever of 99-102 degrees • Sever cramps • Constipation
