  2. Milking Process

  3. Step 1 • Sanitize • Attach milk pumps • After milk is done pumping the pumps automatically fall off.

  4. Step 2 Each filter tube belongs to a different row of cows being milked. Row 1 Row 2 Row 3 Row 4 Filters Thermometer Monitors the temperature of the milk throughout the day. Mixes acids and cleaning chemicals to clean tank.

  5. Outside Management Recycled dry manure for bedding. Manure is flushed with recycled water from previous flush. Clean Allies

  7. Chute to corral sheep and goats.

  8. Management • Students attending the university that are involved in the agriculture programs get the chance to manage the different parts of the Chico State farm. Each barn has a manager and then several other students who work along with them.

  9. BYRD CATTLE COMPANY

  10. Mr. Byrd and his family make their money by selling their bulls and their heifers. They have bred for specific genetics in their heifers and bulls. They use embryo transfer to insure that the qualities they want are past on from the bull and cow into the calf. They also pride themselves on their over the top customer service.

  11. Chaffin Family Orchard • The orchard uses many innovative ways to increase productivity and decrease labor needs.
