  3. Where is the Money? • Find Foundations with interests in health, education or children • Grantmakers in Health • Council on Foundations • State Grantmaker Groups • National Assembly on School-Based Health Care/Center for Health and Health Care in Schools List Serve

  4. Make Your Case • Good Case Statement (IU Fundraising School) • Include a complete financial plan/analysis • Strong Collaboration • Site Visit • Parents and students

  5. Foundation Culture • Build relationships for the long-term • Trust goes both ways • Funders don’t typically “pitch” each other • Funders do talk to each other • Advocacy funding can be a challenge, but worth it for sustainability • View your funders as partners

  6. Foundation Culture • Learn funding cycles • Follow application instructions carefully • Good communication is greatly appreciated • Develop a strong enough relationship to admit failure, as well as successes
