  1. 23.05.2018 The Fate Of Stub Articles On Wiki – The Semalt Answer Wikipedia is the most signi?cant repository offering free access to the high-quality information of all kinds to the users from all over the world. Wiki covers a wide range of academic topics and political ideologies. Recently, Wiki editors and volunteers went on a signi?cant fuss regarding the deletion of the three-line lengthy article on the Wikipedia website. Julia Vashneva, the Semalt Customer Success Manager, says that an article about blood protein "Hemovanadin" has been the topic of discussion after some editors started a motion advocating the removal of the article on Wikipedia. According to Andrea James, the article has however been restored on the website. "Hemovanadin" is a well- resourced scienti?c article that is of uttermost importance to scholars and students. Andrea James implied that "Hemovanadin" article was facing the extreme version of Wiki referred to as "deletionism." Eliminating valuable information from Wikipedia is a signi?cant threat to the education sector that uses Wiki as their major source of reference. For more than 14 years, Wikipedia has been providing well-sourced information to customers visiting the site on a daily basis to acquire knowledge. Understanding how Wikipedia works Deletionism is a complicated ideology that can only be understood by having and following the framework of how Wiki works. Wikipedia is run by a community consisting of volunteers and editors who set policies and guidelines governing the use of Wikipedia. 2. 23.05.2018 To be included on Wikipedia, ideology has to meet the set standards and rules. However, the criteria vary depending on a topic. For instance, in the ?eld of academics, notability standards are apparent. In other sectors, editing and deletion of articles vary depending on the editors' perception, which was the case with "Hemovanadin" article. Wikipedia is run on the basis that volunteers understand its policies and guidelines. However, different volunteers interpret the policies differently, a case scenario that leads to deletionism. Editors are committed and dedicated staff working for the well-being of the site. However, human beings make mistakes, so does Wikipedians. Hemovanadin is an example of an article that was included on Wikipedia only to be developed and edited later. However, the notability standards should be set to restrict the upload of scholarly items that fail to meet standards. Deleting composed material is much more comfortable as compared to creating new articles. Deleting stub articles created by new editors can be a bit frustrating, especially when deletionism occurs and the editors do not get an explanation as to why their articles were removed from Wiki. A good number of stub articles depend on micro-contributions. Making too many edits to a speci?c section changes the original context of the text. Currently, editors have made contributions bearing in mind that just because an article has veri?able sources, it does not meet the notability standards automatically. Here are tips on how stub articles can be edited to avoid deletion. Sorting stub articles depending on topics Improving and ?agging stub articles for expansion Introduction of different colors to mark links that lead to stub articles Theoretically, adding useful information to stub articles is much better than deleting the entire article from Wiki. The style of an article also matters. Stub articles that do not match the style of encyclopedic articles are at risk of facing deletion. https://rankexperience.com/articles/article1906.html 2/2
