  2. The Worldwide Arms Race • The global stadium arms race is becoming ever present in the world of sports • A means to attract new fans and prospective athletes • Flashiness is starting to define success • Feast or famine

  3. Bigger Guns Means More Power • The more amenities you can offer, the more appealing • Becoming a deciding factor for athletes and participants • Experience, Experience, Experience • Fans don’t just go to “watch” • Athletes don’t just go to “play”

  4. Professional Level • Focus on three main facility upgrades • National Football League • Lambeau Field • Major League Baseball • Safeco Field • National Basketball Association • Madison Square Garden

  5. Lambeau Field • Five year project (launched in 2011) • Current expansion and renovation of project totaling $286.5 million • Project includes: • Over 7 thousand more seats • 2 new high definition video boards • Added gates and elevators to efficiently move fans in and out of stadium

  6. Safeco Field • New stadium renovations • Addition of Edgars Cantina in the outfield PEN • Public fireplace in right field • A new wine bar • And also the debut of MLB’s largest video board • Making the ball park more of a social scene

Madison Square Garden • 3 year project • $1 billion dollar renovation project • Consisted of: • Renovated box office • Addition of sky bridge seats • Two 600ft video boards on the ceilings of Chase Square • New video board that fits the contours of the Garden • Renovation of 18 signature seats on the ninth level

  9. Collegiate Athletics: Oregon • New $68 million football operations facility • Has 64, 55 inch televisions • Hydrotherapy tub in the coaches locker room • Player lounge has six gaming stations. Texas A&M New Stadium Renovation • Stadium will be the biggest in Texas and the largest in the SEC. • $450 million dollars in renovations • Will seat 102,500 which is a jump from the previous 83,000 • Funding comes mostly from donations given to the university through the booster program and the new SEC network

  11. Alabama • Renovated in the summer or 2013 • Along with a $9 million weight room • Has an entire arcade inside • Hydrotherapy pools (one warm, one cold) • Will continue the dominance of Alabama football by making the facility a players dream.

International Stadiums • Brazil: • 2014 FIFA World Cup (6 new stadiums, 6 upgraded; $1.1 billion) • 2016 Summer Olympics • Russia: • 2014 Winter Olympics (New Olympic Park; 11 new venues) • 2018 FIFA World Cup (9 new stadiums, 3 upgraded) • Qatar • 2022 FIFA World Cup (9 new stadiums, 3 upgraded)
