  4. Task 2 Ss read the letter. Answer the following questions. • Who is Cindy? She is a reader of the magazine. (2) Why is she unhappy? She has some problems with her new school.

  5. Where did she live before? She lived in Tianjin. (2) Who did she come with? With her parents. (3) Where is she now? In Sunshine Town. (4) How does she feel when her new classmates talk to her? She feels nervous and uncomfortable. (5) Does she want to go back to her old school? No. She hopes to make friends with her new classmates.

  6. Task 3 Ss talk in pairs. • What is the story about? It’s about problems with a new school. (2) Who is it about? It’s about a Grade 8 student. (3) What happened? She moved to a new secondary school. She is unhappy, nervous and uncomfortable at the new school. She is always alone.

  9. Nancy is a high school girl. She is sixteen and is very busy with her studies. She never has enough time for all her activities. Like many other high school girls, she likes to chat with her friends on the phone. She often goes to parties at the weekends. She sometimes makes some

  10. money by looking after young children for other families. During the school year, she has a lot of after- school activities to do. Nancy also has a lot of homework, but never feels tired. The football season is a great time for Nancy. She is busier than usual.

  11. She is one of the cheerleaders(拉拉队员) for the school football team. She and the other girls lead the crowd to cheer for their team during the high school football games. When their school team plays well, Nancy and the other cheerleaders jump
