2. Introduction • The 2012 Summer Olympic Games will be held in London from 27 July to 12 August 2012, followed by the 2012 Paralympics Games from 29 August to 9 September. • This will be the third time London has hosted the games having also done so in 1908 and 1948. • The 2012 Olympics will take place in new venues as well as using existing and historic facilities • This presentation shows some of the attractions the visitors to the Olympics can see.

The capsule travels at 26cm per second The circumference of the wheel is 424m The height of the London Eye is 135m (equivalent to 64 red telephone boxes piled on top of each other)

6. Wembley Stadium • Wembley Stadium has been totally rebuilt and is now one of the most modern and breathtaking arenas in the world. The famous twin towers have made way for an arch over the stadium • With 90,000 seats in Wembley stadium it will be the largest football stadium in the world with every seat under cover. • The arch is 133 metres above the level of the ground level . • The stadium roof is about 52 metres above the pitch. • The new Wembley has a circumference of 1km. • The rows of seating, if placed end to end, would stretch 54 kilometres

7. Tower bridge • Tower Bridge was officially opened on 30th of June 1894 • The walkways connecting the two towers are situated 42m above the river Thames

10. Buckingham Palace • Buckingham Palace is The Queen's official London home. • Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms. These include 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. • A flag always flies above Buckingham Palace when The Queen is at home. • Changing the Guard takes place on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace at 11.30am daily.

Don’t forget to take Souvenirs home! • Hamleys in London is the world's largest toy shop. • It has 5 floors of toys • Harrods is Britain’s most famous store and possibly the most famous store in the world. • It dates back to 1849, when Henry Charles Harrods opened a small grocery shop that gave excellent service.
