Dr. Ali Abedi, a Senior IEEE Member, has an extensive history with IEEE since joining as a student in 1996. He has held numerous leadership roles, including Chair of various chapters and conferences. His current focus as Region 1 Technical Chapters Coordinator involves revitalizing inactive chapters, facilitating communication, and creating training programs for chapter officers. Dr. Abedi aims to drive technology within IEEE, improve member services, and strengthen support for young professionals and practicing engineers.

IEEE Technical Activities Strategy Short and long term goals: • Increasing efforts to drive technology within the IEEE • Improving value to Society members • Improving services and opportunities for young professionals within IEEE • Creating stronger corporate value and better services for practicing engineers
Regional Technical Chapters Coordinator Responsibilities • Establish and maintain communications with the R1 Chapters. • Work with the Area Chairs to help rejuvenate inactive Chapters. • Assist the Sections/Societies in the creation of new Chapters. • Find meaningful solutions to concerns and problems that are raised by the Chapters. • Enhance Regional Chapter management. • Develop appropriate training curricula, materials, and programs for Chapter officers, researching what the Societies have to offer. • Encourage mutual Chapter support by Societies and Sections.
