  1. Why Do People Believe False Doctrines? Man Has A Desire To Worship God made man this way (Gen. 4:26; Jn. 4:24). Yet, some worship idols (Rom. 1:18-32). Even in rejecting God (Rom. 1:28), the desire for worship exists (Rom. 1:21-23). Some people believe false doctrine once their desire for worship has been satisfied!

  2. Why Do People Believe False Doctrines? Trust In The Wrong People Some will believe false doctrine because it was taught by someone they love and trust! Folks take them at their word because they love us and are sincere …. Thus false doctrine is believed and propagated because the people we love taught it to us!

  3. Why Do People Believe False Doctrines? Laziness Some will believe false doctrine because they are not motivated to study on their own and learn! “My preacher said ….” “Mom and Dad ….” The slothful person (Prov. 21:25, 22:13, 26:13) Romans 12:11 – “business” = “diligence”! When folks are lazy, they suffer!

  4. Why Do People Believe False Doctrines? Pride “I have discovered something no one else has discovered!” This is a great motivator for a lot of false teachers/disciples! Obedience = “I have ‘new’ knowledge!” I am doing a “new thing”! Unique! God hates pride (Prov. 6:17, 16:5, 11:21). Therefore, (I Pet. 5:5-6; Jas. 4:10)!

  5. Why Do People Believe False Doctrines? Folks Hear What They Want To Hear II Timothy 4:3-4 Who is NOT willing to believe when people tell you what you want to hear?

  6. Why Do People Believe False Doctrines? They Are Deceived This is the root of the problem!! Acts 20:29-30; Colossians 2:8 I Corinthians 6:9, 15:33; Galatians 6:7 Let us make sure that this is not us!! (II Tim. 2:15; Eph. 3:4; I Cor. 15:58; Phil. 4:9)

  7. “What Must I Do To Be Saved?” Hear The Gospel (Rom. 10:17) Believe In Christ (Jn. 8:24) Repent Of Sins (Lk.13:3) Confess Christ (Rom. 10:10) Be Baptized (I Pet. 3:21) For The Erring Child: Repent (Acts 8:22), Confess (I Jn. 1:9), Pray (Acts 8:22)
