Follow-up report by F. Bellini on PID issue in LHC11a_7TeV cpass1, addressing underestimation of low-pT protons energy loss and texp. Affects reconstructions and 2010 reprocessing. Includes checks on PID and comparison with data.

Bellini, TOF QA report 26/06/14 Follow-up on the p PID issue in LHC11a_7TeV cpass1 • Reported at last QA meeting a tail for low-pT protons in LHC11a_7TeV cpass1 • Understood: https://alice.its.cern.ch/jira/browse/PWGPP-69 • problems to use the TPC PID in the tracking all tracks considered as pionsunderestimation of low-pT p energy loss underestimation of texp tail in t-texp and Nσ towards positive values • Notice that this affects all reconstructions, thus it is also a blocker for 2010 reprocessing • From technical point of view a fix exists but not yet committed (Ruben, private comm.) 145025 p 145079 p
