  2. Introductions • Amber Lytton: Head Coach • CHSAA, ACCAA, NFHS Certified • Corey Wise: Principal • Jason Jacob: Athletic Director

  3. The Purpose of the Cheer Team The primary role of a LHS cheerleader is to promote school spirit, enhance crowd involvement, and positively represent Legend High School both as a leader and as an athlete.

  4. Mission Legend Cheer Mission is to: • Promote and uphold school spirit, unity and pride • Represent the school to the highest degree • Set an example of good behavior and sportsmanship at all times (whether in or out of uniform) • Promote friendship with each other and with schools with whom we compete, perform, and go to camp • Promote the development of lifelong values and skills

Legend Cheer Team Goals The goals of the Legend Cheer team include: • Performing at home varsity football and girls’ and boys’ basketball games • Show support for all athletic teams • Supporting and performing in all pep assemblies • Competing in league, regional, and state, and possibly National, competitions • Taking advantage of community service opportunities

Estimated Time Commitment Summer • Stunting Clinic: May 11 (8-12) • Camp 4 days: June 27-30 • Routine Choreography: July 16 & 18 (8-12) • Practice 1 morning each week to work on conditioning, learning and creating cheers, stunts, and routines for fall (Thursdays 7:30-10:00 am) • One day of tumbling, for an hour, each week • One day of stunting, for an hour and a half, each week.

  7. Estimated Time Commitment Continued Fall • Practice 3-4 afternoons each week • 1-2 games each week • Continuation of practice twice a week at Cheer Central

  8. Estimated Time Commitment Continued Competition Season Sept. – Dec. (-Feb.) • 4-5 afternoons of practice each week • 2 games each week (end of fall and beginning of winter sports) • Regional competitions on Saturdays (2-3) • Continuation of practice twice a week at Cheer Central • Additional floor time at Cheer Central (approx. 15 hours)

  9. Estimated Time Commitment Continued Winter • 2-3 afternoons of practice each week • 2 games each week Spring • Occasional attendance at spring sports • Tryouts in April

Estimated Financial Responsibilities • Athletic Fee: $150 • Uniform: Approx. $700 • skirt, liner, warm ups, shoes, bows, camp clothes, bag, etc. • Camp: $349 • Weekly Tumbling and Stunting: $80/month • Routine Choreography: $179 • Slush Fund: $50 • Parent fund for incidentals: locker decorations, gifts, etc.

  11. Estimated Financial Responsibilities • NATIONALS: • Plan on incurring the cost of Nationals. This is not a guarantee, but please plan for it. • If we finish in the top 10, or earn a score that would place us there -barring any unperformance-related deductions, at State, we will go to Nationals. • Cost: Approx. $1000 • Includes flight, hotel, 2 meals, transportation, and spirit gear (hoodie, pants, t-shirt, and bow)

Eligibility Regulations • Members must maintain exemplary attendance, class performance, and teacher-student associations at all times while on the spirit squad and during tryouts. • All members must have a physical and signed contract on file with the athletic office before tryouts begin. • All members must abide by the athletic code of LHS and CHSAA regulations.

  13. Tryouts Clinics will be held at Legend High School • April 16th, 17th, and 18th (Tuesday-Thursday) 4 - 6 pm • Tryouts April 19that 4 pm • Post-Tryout Meeting Saturday, April 20th9am

  14. Required Tryout Paperwork • Tryout Contract • Application • Athletic Physical • Three Teacher Recommendations • Minimum 2.5 GPA (semester 1 or quarter 3) • Students must be in good financial standing with the school to tryout
