  3. Purpose Initiated by states How to avoid “reinventing the wheel” Create a clearinghouse of public domain tools & documents Platform for all states to post, learn about, and adopt non-proprietary SLDS-related products Benefits both contributing and receiving states

  5. How the PDC Works NCES will host and support PDC application NCES does not endorse PDC products Request support for implementation of Public Domain products States adopting other states’ products are asked to share modifications/improvements

  8. Process for identifying PDC items SEA has an item they have developed and would like to make it available for others to use SST member visits SEA and recognizes value of item Other SEA recommendations

  9. Process to place item in PDC SEA fills out application to submit PDC item SST member follows up with state to work out delivery of item into PDC Item transferred to staging area of PDC and prepared for production Item moved to PDC and announcement made (on web site)

Process for using items from PDC SEA logs onto GRADS and selects the PDC tab Through site search function, locate PDC item Accept disclaimer statement & item use agreement Download item and implement locally Item hosted on PDC ? Organization • Documents • Static documents such as Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and data dictionaries, the goal of which is to share information between and among state and local education agencies. • Tools • Technological or organizational solutions (e.g., reporting mechanisms, professional development programs, and data analysis applications) that can be implemented as part of a state of local agency’s SLDS.
