COURSE OVERVIEW ME 195 = ME 195A + ME 195B Fall semester Spring Semester DESIGN VERIFICATIONS, PROTOTYPE BUILDING & TESTING DESIGN NOTE:ME 195A&B sequence must be completed in the same academic year + General Sessions Individual Sessions ● Meeting with section instructors on planning & implementation of design projects ● Meeting with special guest speakers ● Design team caucus meetings ● Scheduled oral presentations by student design teams ● Quizzes on scheduled seminars ● Other section activities ● Information ● Seminars ● Project Report preparation (195A) ● Engineering economics (195A) ● Environments & social impacts (195B) ● Globalization (195B)

MAJOR TASKS ME 195B ME 195A Spring Semester Fall Semester ● Parts assembly ● Develop prototype ● Testing & design ● Finalize report ● Final presentation ● Identify project topics ● Project planning ● Define specification ● Literature review ● Initial design & final design ● Theoretical background ● Calculations/Simulations ● Budgeting and scheduling

  4. Types of Projects - Industry Sponsored - Department Sponsored (lab development) - Research Grant Sponsored - Professional competitions (e.g., ASME Design, HPVC, SAE) - Individual Interest

  5. Important Things to Do ● Finalize Project ● Form your team ● Finalize enrollment adjustments (by 9/4) ● Submit Project Proposal Students whose final section enrollment differs from their original signed up sections are responsible for the necessary “ADD/DROP” with involved section instructors.
