  3. Behavior Expectations The district-wide plan for students’ behavior is called CHAMPs. It is a set of expectations which ensures your child’s success: C is for Conversation H is for Help A is for Activity M is for Movement P is for Participation S is for Special Instructions

  4. Code of Conduct School Expectations: • Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself. • Follow directions immediately and the first time. • Walk silently and orderly in the hallway. • Be respectful to yourself, adults, and other students. Your child’s conduct grade is derived from the Tuscany Code of Conduct. 0-3discipline comments = E 4-6 discipline comments = S 7-9 discipline comments = I 10+ discipline comments = U An office referral automatically results in a conduct grade of an ‘N’ for that 9 weeks. Multiple office referrals will result in a ‘U’ for that 9 weeks.

  5. Covey Leadership You will hear your child talk even more about the 8 Habits this year. The 8 habits we will be learning, modeling, and living are: *Be Proactive *Begin With The End in Mind *Put First Things First *Think Win-Win *Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood *Synergize *Sharpen the Saw * Find Your Voice We are continuing to implement our Leadership program which will include leadership positions in the classroom and campus. Students will set goals and track progress in their Leadership binders.

  6. Library Our Tuscany Library has been blessed with thousands of books and other resources including our librarian, Mrs. Johnson. • 2nd graders may check out 2 books at a time if all previous checkouts have been returned. • Parents may set up their own library account and check out 5 books at a time. • Be sure to visit the Tuscany Library website to see how to download e-books too!

  7. Specials Our coaches, Ms. Kaufman & Mrs. Fonger, are requesting that all students wear tennis shoes on their assigned P.E. days. Sandals and flip flops can cause unnecessary accidents! Specials: 10:15-11:05

  10. Extras • Please check your child’s Take-home binder each night for notes or other important items. • Each student will need an Agenda (you can purchase one at MTT night). Please read and sign your child’s Agenda each night. The Agenda is a great way to communicate between home and school. • Homework will be sent home on Friday and is to be completed and turned in on the following Friday. • Please be sure that your child does 15-20 minutes of GREAT reading every night! • Newsletters will be emailed each week

  11. Extras 2nd grade birthday celebrations will be held from 2:40-2:50. You may send in store-bought treats (of the same flavor/type) along with napkins & plates. Please be sure to check with your child’s teacher for any food allergies in the class. • Please let us know at least one day in advance so we can make arrangements. • If you want to pass out invitations at school, one must be given to every student in a class (even if it’s a different homeroom class than your child’s). If you are unable to invite every student, they must be passed out off campus. The only exception to this is if you want to invite ALL the girls in a class or ALL the boys in a class. • Just a gentle reminder that teachers are not allowed to give out contact information (emails, addresses or phone numbers)!

  12. Extras Lunch: • Parent Table- In order for a friend to sit with you at the parent table they will need a written note from their parent. Only parents and their child are allowed to sit outside the cafeteria. • Extras- Your child will have the option of having extra of any entrée the cafeteria serves. To ensure all students in all grades get what they order for lunch each day, we ask that students tell us in the morning if they want to order extras that day. If you would rather your child NOT have the option of ordering extras please specify in parent portal. Keep in mind that extras are an additional cost!
