  1. Illinois Consortium for Accelerator Research (ICAR)

  2. ICAR is a consortium of five Illinois institutions of higher learning formed to ensure Fermilab’s future in the forefront of international high-energy physics research and enhance the lab’s continuing contributions to the scientific, economic and educational well being of the state and citizens of Illinois. ICAR will accomplish these goals by strengthening the accelerator and particle physics programs within the member universities.

  3. Membership (Current) (IIT, Prime contractor) Northern Illinois University University of Chicago University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Northwestern University

  4. ICAR Executive Board • Director, ICAR (nonvoting ex-officio) • Daniel Kaplan, IIT • David Hedin, NIU • (Jerry Blazey) • Deborah Erredde, UIUC • Kwan-Je Kim, UC • (Mark Oreglia) • Mayda Velasco, NU • Director of Outreach and Public Awareness • Sharon Pines, IIT

  8. Major Activities Muons: 30 Electrons/LC: 23 Advanced Accelerator Physics: 8 Outreach and Public Awareness: >8

  9. Output Proposals: 15 submitted ($35M) Publications: 61 papers or proceedings Presentations: 106 talks

  10. Future Job 1: Assure that decision makers and policy makers understand the value of accelerator and particle physics Participate in the development an effective, universal message with Fermilab, other groups (Judy Jackson initiative) Work with state advocacy groups (such as Illinois Coalition) to assure continued State support Work with existing efforts and seek additional support for effective, coordinated educational programs
