  3. What is “Grundtvig”? • The Grundtvig programme funds a variety of different projects and offers a range of opportunities for all sizes and kinds of organisations in the UK to get involved in European working. • The Grundtvig programme has two key objectives: • to respond to the challenges of an aging population in Europe; and  • to help provide adults with pathways to improve their knowledge and competences.

  4. Partners • CESIE, ITALY - 1. « Fondazione per il Sud »: garden place for practical experiences, contact between children & adults, 2. Ubuntu, childcare services for immigrant people 3. Acunamatata, assisting with the cultural growth of the realities of young people. • using their spaces to create the community garden •  Also involving the older generations who work in the countryside to come into Palermo and teach the youngest people how to cultivate, the benefits, etc.

  5. Partners cont. • Pistes Solidaire, France In Marseille, Pistes Solidaire are starting to develop a local partnership with a network called "solidar gardens of the Mediterranean area" they are small gardens or parks given from the state to citizens so that they can garden and share experiences. The concept is great, because some gardens are for 1 family, but inside the same space, there is a collective one, where the animator/trainer can organize trainings, invite schools, organize small dinners, etc. The project is very nice, mostly because it is in the middle of huge buildings, so a kind of green in the city,

  6. Partners cont. • Gulbene Association – Latvia This organisation supports & protects the interests of farmers by providing: information, education, participation, youth inclusion. Green Fingers will focus on teachers & people working with children : « Mazpulki »: teaching how to work with nature, food & agriculture – other villages around the district. Visits will include an Agricultural vocational school where there is special equipment along with an area dedicated to providing work and skills.

  7. Partners cont. • ACD La Hoya – Spain Green Fingers: started in December 2009 working with a secondary and primary school. There ACD La Hoya will develop projects with them: planting, and promoting their work They are also in collaboration with the Council: 5 years ago, the Council gave them some land for the retired people of the area to utilise through gardiennage. These persons will be actively involved with this project. There are 6 big gardens with trees which are sold all over the world, which brings a lot of resources to the area.

  8. Partners cont. • Diagonal – Hungary • - « Eger »: Stream cleaned every year, mixing generations: cooperation of 5 villages, and big party afterwards involving many communities. • - « Szekszard »: wine Kadarka: trying to renew this typical old hungarian wine: Many generations meetings with elder experts and transfering knowledge • - « Mas Mozaik »: village Keked 270 inhabitants, 70% unemployed, 30% gipsys: the aim is to replant the garden with typical Hungarian fruit trees and build a fruit farm on land as part of the hotel own by the city council • - Gardony: the City Council wants to use an old «  grainery »to facilitate meetings of different generations: planting native-hungarian trees around this territory, mixing generations

  9. Partners cont. • Point Europa – UK • Point Europa will work closely with local schools, pre-schools, training centres and gardening experts to provide interesting opportunities for adult learners. • We will provide a training leaflet which will include details of relevant courses. • We will also organise travel to other partners in order that “members” of the green fingers group can visit other settings and compare activities and results.
