  6. Heart & Lung Endurance • Endurance is your ability to engage in vigorous activity over time without tiring too quickly or easily. • Heart and Lung Endurance refers to how effectively your heart and lungs work when you exercise and how quickly they return to normal when you stop.

  7. How Can I Increase My Heart & Lung Endurance? • By exercising in a moderate to vigorous activity for at least 20 to 30 minutes, four to five times per week. • What are some activities that will increase my heart and lung endurance? • Running • Swimming • Cycling • Brisk Walking

Muscle Strength & Endurance • Strength is known at the ability of your muscles to exert a force. • Muscle Strength is the most amount of a weight that you can lift one time. • Muscular Endurance is the ability of a muscle to repeatedly lift a weight for a prolonged period of time. • Muscular Strength and Endurance Example

  12. Three Basic Strength Exercises • Push-ups builds muscles in arms and back. • Curl-ups builds muscle in your abdomen. • Step-ups builds muscle in your legs.

  13. How Do We Measure Strength & Endurance • Push – Ups • Curl – Ups • Pull – Ups

  14. Body Composition • Body Composition is the ratio of body fat to lean tissue, such as bone, muscle, and fluid. • Body composition tells us if we are carrying to much fat.

  15. Flexibility • Flexibility is the ability of your body’s joints to move easily through a full range of motion. • You can improve your flexibilitythrough regular stretching.

  16. What is Your Fitness Level • Can you run the mile without stopping? • Can you perform 20 push – ups with correct form? • Can you perform 100 curl – ups with good form? • Do you have good flexibility?
