  1. Objective: • To understand how to produce an Orthographic Projection drawing • Outcome: • To be able to use orientation or views to communicate and represent our design ideas. Starter Look at this object. At what point did you realise it had a hole through the middle? How could you possibly show each view if drawing it 2D?

  2. Orthographic Projection is a way of showing a three-dimensional (3D) in two-dimension (2D) Plan/ Top Front Side

  3. Third Orthographic Projection is one method of showing the views of a object. Process: 1st Draw the FRONT view 2nd Then to the right draw the SIDE view 3rd On top of the front view do the TOP/PLAN view 3rd 3D Object Plan/ Top 2nd 1st Front Side

  4. Task 1: Can you correctly label the following views with the correct letter?

  5. Task 2: Using what you have learnt, you are now going to draw the 3D wooden cube in front of you 2D using orthographic projection on the template . With a scale 1:1. You will need a ruler. What does scale and what does 1:1 mean? How would you make it look wooden? Where is the light source in this picture? Can you fill in this table?

  6. Task 3: Using the other wooden block that is in a shape of a step/ block with hole to produce an orthographic drawing using the template.

  7. Plenary: How would you do it? 5-5-1 A new student has joined the school and you have to explain what orthographic projection is in 5 sentences. Then do the same for the process. Could you then summarise it on 5 words then 1 word.
